Medium difficulty is nearly impossible but one difficulty level less (2 out of 5) is too easy. Computer makes random mistakes are lower levels. I tried online but I couldnt get into a game. But its free so u cant expect much. If u r a more serious chess player ur much better off getting a more expensive app, Shredder Chess for $8 is amazing.
