iChess (Free) App Reviews

This is a really good chess app. I like how it allows you to change the colors. However, there are two problems. It does not let me castle even when I follow the directions in the app. The major problem is the annoying ads. I usually dont mind ads, but this is really bad. It does not let me see the pieces I have captured. This is the only reason I rated it three stars. But other than that it is better than all of the other free chess apps I have tried on my iPhone.

Really fun! This got me hooked on chess , but it crashes whenever I go trump a pawn. And ads are placed in area where it takes away some of the features. But its not a bad app. Just needs improvement.

Dont bother with other chess apps, this one is the best! Download this one or upgrade to the ad free version!

Absolutely brilliant. I have long been searching for a chess app that shows you the available movement possibilities. It is great for beginners! It makes playing with my friends, who usually stay away from the game because they dont quite understand it. The graphics are defiantly not my favorite, but thats just a personal fetish. Bravo, iChess, bravo!!!

When I tried to open it the thing didnt ever open it just went to a black screen the back the the rest of my apps :(( please fix.

Game wont allow u to make legal moves and will make illegal moves that are not possible. Please update and fix this. So u can get the stars u really should be getting

When you play enough you can easily recognize the algorithm and patterns. So you can beat the comp even in the hardest level, by following the pattern. Minus one star for that. The location of ads is very obstructive. Another minus one. But this is overall a very decent game for beginners and for killing your time. Multiple player mode is hard to setup.

App crashes when it approaches check or checkmates. Crashes every game I play against computer.

This is one of the best chess apps that I have seen, and it is here free! You can play free offline against the computer or a friend, or you can register in just a few minutes to play live against other online players. I have experienced no problems with this app. Another bonus: it works on iOs 3! That means that all you iTouch 1st Gen lovers, you can play your game!This is a great app. I love it!

I use free so it gets two stars for that. If I paid for it I would give no stars. The app lags and locks up like crazy! I play online. If you move your piece just as the clock hits 0 it will lock the game so the other player cannot move but their time will still expire. I would never pay for this. I keep it because it is free and would pay if it worked properly. It could also have a lot more features.

This game locked up big time. Ounce I sign on to the internet. It locks up showing only so and so resign,so and so forfeits on time, so an so has no material, so and so aborts game, and it goes on and on never letting me play a game. What am I going wrong. All I want to do is play chess on the internet. 1/2 star.

This used to be a 5-star app, but now it freezes too much.

The only issue I have had with this game is the fact that you cannot play it with your device held horizontally. The screen can only be flipped on the y-axis which is fine if you are playing against two people but I would prefer it horizontally.

This game is pretty boring because I have been playing for a long time and I have studied the computers every move so I can beat it every time on lvl 5 so can you make the moves made by the computer more randomized and I will give 5 stars

Good app. Clean interface. Not cluttered like most chess apps. Shows how pieces can move too and can give hints. The computer chess engine levels are good! Will improve your game with practice. I wish they would add an algebraic notation option as well as more viewing options for two player games.
